St George’s Church Choir – A Call for New Singers

St George’s Church in Langton Matravers has long been blessed with a choir that has enhanced its worship with beautiful and uplifting music. However, in recent times, the choir has experienced a decline in numbers, due to illness and several other valid reasons. Although we value highly our remaining singers who do a wonderful job to keep music alive in the church, we are currently unable to provide the full and diverse musical offering that has been a rich and cherished part of our Sunday morning communion services.

But there’s good news! We are seeking new singers to join our friendly and welcoming choir, and we’d love to invite you to become part of a wonderful musical tradition in St George’s which goes back many decades. The choir sings on the morning of the second and fourth Sunday of each month, and rehearsals take place the Friday before these services at 5pm, lasting for 90 minutes. Whether you’re an experienced singer or a complete beginner, male or female, high voice or low, Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass or ‘not sure’, you would be very welcome. There will be no solo auditions.

To give you a taste of what it’s like to be part of the choir, please come along to one of our rehearsals, held on the Fridays immediately before the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month, 5pm – 6.30pm. There’s absolutely no pressure to commit, just a chance to come along, sing a little, and see if it feels right for you. Above all, we enjoy what we do, strive to get better, but never forget that we are far from perfect!

If this sounds appealing or you’d simply like more details, please feel free to contact Richard Earl at 01929 475822 or richard@staldhelm-purbeck.org. We look forward to welcoming you, sharing the joy of music together and helping St George’s to sing again! 🎶
